Ubuntu and Kubuntu 10.04 Beta 1 released

Hello everybody,


Good news are coming all the time from Canonical and one of the latest is that finally you can download Ubuntu/Kubuntu 10.04 in quite stable Beta 1 version. I tried both distributions and beside other things on the first sight i can tell that it is faster and smoother then 9.10. Complete list of changes you can see below. Some of the new features in Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 1:

Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 1 Desktop
- Latest GNOME version
- Mozilla Firefox default search engine has been changed to Yahoo!
- Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 1 includes the 2.6.32-16.25 kernel based on 2.6.32.9
- This beta sports full removal of HAL from the boot process, making Ubuntu faster to boot and faster to resume from suspend
- New default open source driver for nVidia hardware
- Improved support for nVidia proprietary graphics drivers
- Built-in integration with Twitter, identi.ca, Facebook, and other social networks
- Multiple changes to look, feel and speed of the boot experience have been included in the Ubuntu 10.04 LTS beta
- The notification area now features more consistent user experience and design for communication, session management, and many other tasks

- Ubuntu One File Syncing
- Ubuntu One Music Store

Like before this Beta version is recommended only for people who know what are doing. If you want solid stable version stay with 9.10 for another month or so when we expect final version of 10.04 with the name Lucid Lynx. Until then enjoy your Ubuntu/Kubuntu.
